Optical Properties: Crystalline Materials (S.Adachi, T.Miyazaki and S. Ozaki)
Knowledge of the refractive indices and adsorption coefficients of semiconductors is especially important in the design and analysis of various optoelectronic devices. In this project, we are studying the optical properties of various bulk semiconducting materials and quantum-well heterostructures in the near-infrared-ultraviolet region using spectroscopic ellipsometry and modulation spectroscopy. The measured spectra are analyzed on the basis of our proposed mode, namely the model dielectric function.
